Lavender Waxbill

(Estrilda caerulescens)

At three and one half inches (3-1/2″), the Lavender Finch or Lavender Waxbill (Estrilda caerulescens) from tropical western Africa, is an active, inquisitive and alert aviary inhabitant. They tend to roost in nest baskets, when available.

The Lavender Finch should be offered a variety of live food (mealworms, wax worms, maggots, small crickets, etc.), in addition to a standard finch mix.
