Pin Tailed

(Erythrura prasina)

The Pin-tailed Parrot-finch, (Erythrura prasina prasina), exists in two different colour forms. The common red abdomen and a rarer yellow abdomen. The yellow abdomen being a naturally occurring mutation. These aerial acrobats can be bred in a colony as the males are not aggressive towards each other.

This species almost never comes on the ground so their food and water should be placed on a shelf. Their diet should include various grass seeds, hulled oats, animal protein, germinated grain, and a supply of vegetables and a little fruit.
