Listing Affiliate Clubs and Shows

http://www.nfss.org/affiliations_directory/

This is the link for the frontend. Frontend is the term for the view that website visitor sees. Backend will refer to be logged in within the control panels.

Steps:
1. Loggin with your email account and password.
• If you do not have an account, you must create and account. Click “create an account”.
• Update your profile: “Edit My Profile” link is on the left sidebar. The Directory Administrator can then determine your status:

~ Affiliate Club: new needing to pay, new and paid, or renewed paid, for the current annual term. The default status is unpaid “New Affiliate Members”. To list
for free Affiliate Clubs, must pay their annual dues. Status is then changed to Current Paid Affiliate Member.

Or…
~ Directory Administration. Ask the main Administrator (or webmaster) to set your status to admin if you need control over all the listings, as an Affiliate Director, or Assistant Admin / Web Assistant.

2. Click “Create New Listing” on left sidebar.
Choose either “Affiliate Shows & Events” or “NFSS Affiliated Clubs & Societies” depending on whether you are listing a show or a club. Within Affiliate Shows and Events, there two types of listings: “Show & Events” or “Regional Shows”. Regional Shows: Regional Shows must be requested, and then approved by NFSS for listing.

3. Listing A Club or Show: Fill in the blanks on the form. Only a couple of areas are mandatory: Event or Club Title, Categories, Organization, and Affiliation Term (eg.2011), and “Expiration”. Required fields have a red * asterisk. Some clubs will not provide, nor have, all the information needed. When done, select “Create Listing “(button on bottom of Page) The process for Show Listing is more or less the same as for the Club Listing.
Please NOTE starting from the top of the form:

• Checkbox on top, “claim listing”. Check if you would like another user or club rep to be able to manage the listing or take ownership of the listing. This would have to be approved by you as the “listing owner” if requested.

• “SEO title”, means search engine optimized. It is a user-friendly title or URL. For instance, the url might be http://www.nfss.org/affiliations_directory/listings/marylandallcanaryclub/

Not ~ http://www.nfss.org/affiliations_directory/listings/listing56

Note: marylandcanaryclub vs. listing56. It is user friendly and promotes advertising through the search engines.

• Meta descriptions, if turned on in the system, and key words may be used for promoting your club or event. For instance, Finch Sales, Bird show in California, Finch organization or local club in Nebraska. It is used to help views find a listing through searching in Google or the like. It is not mandatory. May not apply.

• SET THE EXPIRATION DATE. The listing will not go away at the date of expiration, it will however deactivate. The listing can be updated and/or reactivated upon renewal of the affiliate club. AffiliateTerms end on the coming March 31st. Affiliate terms run from March 31 to March 31.

Admins: Logon to the site and click the black header bar, Affiliate Clubs and Societies, the affiliation term will show on the front end. These terms will expire next March 31st. When the club renews, the listing can be edited with any changes, and the new term is selected. If a club pays late, the listing does not disappear, it deactivates. Simply reactivate the listing.

Expiration dates for shows and events are logically set to a few days after the event. Setting the expiration date insures the website and listings remain current on the Frontend viewing.

• Upload Logo Image if Available. Choose the image by navigation on your computer. Click upload. The image should be at least 400 pixels wide and excellent resolution. The uploading process compacts the image, and a poor image will look even worse.

• Categories: The parent category folder icons have a tiny plus sign to the left, click it, open drop list (folder) if applicable. A selection might look like this: Clubs United States / Alaska. Or, USA – Shows & Events ALAKSKA.

ALWAYS SELECT A STATE when applicable.

This system provides the best advertising and promotion while also enabling NFSS Directories and Affiliates to access their information.

IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ:

• MEETING AND EVENT LOCATIONS: This is the Google map address for the location of shows and club meetings, if provided. It is NOT the club mailing address. If you have no meeting location, ENTER ONLY THE CITY AND STATE. The default zoom of the map is set by selecting the button for generating the event on the map, put the zoom + or – where you want the viewer to preview on the frontend. It saves with saving of the listing

If the listing does not appear active on the website, check under “ View My Listings” link located on the left sidebar. Under “view my listings” to make sure it is “active”, you may also select icons on the right to edit, delete, add images, add video, add files or view the listing on the “Front End”. The small house icon is the “view listing on the “front end”. This shows you what the listing looks like on the website.

From the “Front End” a listing may be printed, edited (if you are an Admin or listing owner), emailed to a friend, shared on FaceBook, etc.

Regional Shows will appear in yellow.

4. On the Front End:
• Listings rotate randomly on the home page.
• On the black menu bar there two selections for the viewer: Affiliate Shows & Events or NFSS Affiliated Clubs & Societies. By clicking on a listing, the full listing will present in the browser.

• Categories are on the right sidebar

• User options are on the left sidebar. Depending on the status of a user different options are displayed. For instance, an Admin might see or be able to choose “settings” or “invoices”, a “Current Paid Member” does not have those types of options.
