Prohibited Birds - Oregon

Prohibited Birds (8-1-01)

The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission has listed three species of finches that are prohibited in Oregon.  Excerpted from Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) Chapter 635, Division 056, page 3:

Prohibited Species

(1) Except as otherwise provided in these rules or other rules of the commission, live wildlife listed below may not be imported, possessed, sold, purchased, exchanged or transported in the state:   

...(b) Prohibited Birds: Common Name - Family - Genus/species:

B.  Order Passeriformes

(i) Yellowhammer - Emberizidae - Emberiza citrinella;

(ii) European Greenfinch - Fringillidae - Carduelis chloris

(iii) Chaffinch - Fringillidae - Fringilla coelebs
