March, 2000 - In my last message we talked about what I would like to see for the next couple years. In this message what I want to do is let the membership know what we need to start accomplishing those goals.
VOLUNTEERS. That is correct. This month we need a minimum of two volunteers. Julie Duimstra has had the Finchshop for much longer than she intended to ever keep it and would like for somebody to take it over from her. Julie has performed commendably and is keeping things running, but needs to have some closure in this matter. I would love to see somebody come in and add some new items, work closely with Harry Bryant to get the Finchshop on the NFSS web site, and continue the excellent job Julie has done.
The other volunteer we need is for the Awards manager. Keri McCoy has taken it over temporarily to get things rolling for 2000 but she cannot do this on a full time basis. Keri is looking into a "drop ship" arrangement with a vendor so the only thing required is keeping the paperwork straight. Every person on the Board, both elected and appointed, is a volunteer. With 750 active members in NFSS, two people should step forward and get involved. This is your opportunity to make a difference.
