Throughout most of the year the sexes look identical, only in breeding season will the male molt into his striking Orange and Black feathers. The Orange Weavers cannot be kept successfully in any cage. These are proud and aggressive  birds; in order to appreciate them, you must provide them a definable room size territory. Weavers will not accept a human made nest, they must be allowed to build their own, this requires lots of space and a lot of building material such as long grass, palm fronds, and excelsior.

Diet is a combination of seeds, egg food, sometimes fruits & veggies, and live food.
