Pictorella or Pictorella Mannikin
(Lonchura pectoralis)

The Pictorella or Pictorella Mannikin (Lonchura pectoralis) is from Northern Australia. It is a very docile and easy-going finch which is said by some to mate for life.

It can be placed with other non-aggressive finches but will probably do best is housed by itself.

They are fairly temperature-sensitive and should only be kept by experienced breeders.

A good finch mixture with some japanese millet mixed in will serve as a basic mix for these birds, with some life foods provided while breeding. Soaked or sprouted seed is eagerly taken.
